Sebastian Cross Spotlight

ree

Sebastian’s unit of Swordsworn, along with several senior paladins and two Castellan mecha, responded to a distress beacon from the United Stars passenger liner Crimson Shift. Thirty paladins, well armed and superbly trained, rushed headlong into an ambush set by the noh warlord Mamaro To. Three of them escaped. In that massacre, he took the wound that destroyed his eye and ruined his face. He experienced firsthand the necessity for The Six Peers, why we do what we do. He still did not want revenge. Rather, he wanted to destroy anyone willing to do such a thing.

The memory of the Crimson Shift incident deeply influenced the way Sebastian’s martial and command styles developed. He works tirelessly, and brilliantly, to preserve the lives of innocent bystanders and his soldiers without losing sight of the larger goal. The manifestation of Rook only enhanced these qualities. The taciturn cypher possesses a keen and ever-growing knowledge of military history and strategy, which Sebastian regularly puts to excellent use.

The leader of the Shattered Sword Paladins, Sebastian Cross returns to Relic Knights 2.0 with an updated Questing Knight sculpt and new rules! Keep reading to see how Sebastian Cross makes for an excellent front-line leader. On the front of his card, Sebastian has an average movement stat of 5-4 and an excellent armor of 3 with 16 health. That armor is bolstered by Block as an ability, making it a static 3 damage reduction whenever he is attacked. His Cadre Ability, Inspiration, lets any unit in the cadre add Hobble to their attacks by discarding a card. As Hobble prevents the affected unit from taking their initial move, Inspiration can allow Sebastian Cross and his cadre to easily outmaneuver their enemies.

For his actions, Sebastian’s best option is Benediction at a solid 6 damage with the option for Charge and Precision on one press, an the ability to make a second attack if the target is suffering Bind. He can fire his Auto Pulse Rifle if he’s not able to close the distance, while Halt! offers utility with Bind and Knockback. On defense, Iron Will increases his armor by 2, taking his damage reduction with Block to 5. With a press for Heavy, Sebastian Cross’s defense action makes him a solid anchor for his cadre.

Rook comes with the standard set of cypher stats: 2 armor, 3 draw, 8 health, and Shielding 2. His movement of 6-2 helps him to get into melee range before taking an action. Once in position, he can do a little damage and move his target with Reposition. Or he can support his allies with Sword from the Stone, adding Overcharge to their next melee attack.

When building a cadre around Questing Knight Sebastian Cross, Swordsworn and Purifiers (both in the Shattered Sword Paladins Battle Box) are great choices. The Swordsworn provide another source of Bind, freeing Sebastian to use Benediction to its full potential without having to set it up himself. The Purifiers should be more than enough to heal any damage that gets past Sebastian’s armor.
