Render Spotlight

Their reductor beam projectors can literally render targets down to their component molecules. A few skilled noh so equipped can sweep clean whole sectors of a battlefield. Any other civilization would have quickly embraced and widely disseminated such a weapon. Other civilizations do not have to seek the approval of the Blessed; the priestesses of Nozuki stand in the way of wide adoption of such technology. They object to the renders because their weapons leave nothing to sacrifice, denying Nozuki the blood and souls He is due.

Noh Empire is known for their preference to get up close and personal, but that doesn’t mean they’re without fire support. In the case of the Render, they’ve taken this literally.

Ignition Core Game’s release of the Render marks the first time this re-sculpt is available. The Render kit comes with weapon options for Hydra’s Breath (standard) or Hydra’s Heads (upgrade).

With two actions that inflict the Burning condition, the Render rewards patience and planning while presenting a formidable threat to your opponent. That’s because Burning tokens trigger when Command tokens are refreshed, dealing 2 points of Collateral Damage for each point of Burning on a unit.

Flamespot is the Render’s area of effect action. It will inflict 1 Burning, or 3 if pressed, on any enemy units that activate or move within the area. It can be placed near one or more units to guarantee they’ll be affected, or it can be used to encourage your opponent to avoid areas of the battlefield. The Render’s ranged attack, Hydra’s Breath, does 4 base damage and 1 Burning for 2 red and 1 blue Esper. Hydra’s Breath has 3 press options: adding 2 damage, 2 burning, and/or additional damage per model in the targeted unit. And because this attack has the Surge property, the Render can burn something with it every turn. With a little bit of planning, a single render can easily apply 6 or more burning before the tokens resolve.

The Render’s upgrade replaces the Hydra’s Breath flamethrower with a Hydra’s Heads cannon. This attack swaps the Burning and bonus damage for a Rapidfire press with the potential for 10 damage in a single attack.

The Render makes a great addition to the Noh Empire Battle Box, allowing players even more options in the heat of battle.
